Early Years Framework

The approach that we take to supporting early years children has led to the creation of a unique, child-focused environment. It is a place where our little are able to acquire the skills they need to prepare them for the next stage of their school life.

The Early Years Foundation Stage Development Matters Framework is a curriculum which welcomes everyone from birth to five years.

Teaching and learning activities are underpinned by four key areas of need: communication and interaction, cognition and learning, sensory motor and physical, social and emotional wellbeing. None of these areas is delivered in isolation, with a careful balance of adult-led and child-initiated activities throughout. This ensures each child’s individual needs are met, regardless of their complexities.

Our specialist team takes a Total Communication approach to teaching and learning, incorporating social communication, emotional regulation and transactional support. Our sessions include stay and play, play therapy, and music and movement therapy, amongst others.

All our staff are trained in autism, therapeutic parenting and neurodiversity awareness, and are paediatric First Aid trained.

Our long-term focus is to always support your child in the transition to the next phase in their education – whether that is towards special or mainstream provision. We therefore craft sensory and communication profiles for each child, and utilise hi-tech assistive technology.

We also employ a range of strategies, working closely with parents to put in place the best possible range of support to prepare your child for the next step in their educational journey.
