KS4 Work Experience

A group of KS4 and KS5 HMS students have recently completed a tailored work experience programme provided by one of our school’s partners – Babcock International.

The project consisted of designing a next-generation fire engine across four areas:

1.           Interior

2.           Exterior

3.           Gear

4.           Marketing

Each decision uses Tier 1–3 (basic to advanced) and involves trade-offs in cost, time, and function.

End Goal:

•             Make balanced choices

•             Understand trade-offs

•             Justify designs in a presentation

At the end of the work experience sessions, the students presented their projects, the decisions they made along the way, and the lessons they learned on the programme in front of a panel of engineers at the Babcock site in Ruislip.
