Hillingdon Manor Celebrate VE Day 2026

On Friday 8^th May, we acknowledged VE Day at Hillingdon Manor School with activities and tasks taking place across the school. Pupil learned about the end of World War Two, and the jubilant celebrations that took place across Britain when the war ended in 1945.

Pupils took part in activities that explored what life was like for those who lived through the war, writing letters and diary entries in English, exploring ‘rationed’ ingredients and what these were, and watched VE Day videos including interviews of those who have links to the end of the war.

We also had a ‘street party’ in the Hall, where we set up tables and pupils ate their lunch together – it was wonderful! It was a very insightful day, and pupils were respectful at all times, remembering those who fought for the country and the importance of peace, including in modern day Britain.
