Key Stage 3
At Key Stage 3 students learn how to play popular songs using keyboards and guitars, working together and individually to perform pieces of music. We cover units on rhythm and notation and explore how to play together as a band. Music is an avenue for many of our students who may not yet be ready to access the academic side of the curriculum. KS3 students are taught the foundational skills that will be required of them in Music Technology at KS4. Here, they learn how to use Studio One and develop their production skills so that they are ready to start the NCFE music technology course.
Key Stage 4 & 5
The students study the NCFE Music Technology course. During the course the pupils will complete the following units of work.
- Dance music production
- Audio Editing
- Setup and operate Audio/Midi sequencing software
- Create music using Audio/Midi sequencing software
These units help the students understand how to use industry standard music production software. They also refine the ability to structure and compose original music using technology as an aid.
