Food Technology is a diverse subject which is taught across all Key Stages at the secondary site. As food hygiene and preparation is such a fundamental life skill, this subject is offered at a range of different levels. At the most functional level, Food technology is delivered to pupils to teach the life skills that will be required in order to live independently. This includes not only the essential techniques that are needed to cook, but education about healthy and sustainable eating.
Pupils that wish to pursue Food Technology at a GCSE level also have the opportunity to do so at Key Stage 4/5, where we offer a course that focuses on catering.
Pupils that access food technology will learn practical, life-long skills that will be of great assistance as they look towards adulthood and a self-sustaining lifestyle.
